My friends we must always remember that Easter is not about the traditions concerning a Bunny Rabbit or colored eggs or new clothes or even about Spring. It is about the most significant event of History, no other event is as important. It is about the Resurrection of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and the eternal salvation of all those who believe in His death, burial and resurrection.
Paul tells us in Romans 4:25-5:11 what we have because of the Empty Tomb. “who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” (Romans 4:25–5:11, ESV)
First we have Peace – a peace that is settled. It does not say we are seeking peace it says we have peace. Secondly, it says we have constant access to God. We may go directly into His presence through prayer.
Thirdly, we have hope, a hope that is the future of Heaven and a hope for the present. Because He lives, we are assured that our Lord is available for everything we need in this life. The fourth and fifth truths we have because of the Empty Tomb are unconditional love from the Father and the indwelling Holy Sprit Who is the agent of change in our lives.
The last thing to emphasize is the fact of our security from God’s wrath. Because of the resurrection God says we are secure from the coming wrath, which He has promised that is coming upon the earth.
Beloved, God promises us that all believers are justified because of our Lord’s resurrection. These wonderful assurances are through faith alone. We must never fall into the trap of somehow thinking we can earn these things through good works. Only Christ could assure us of these things and His resurrection proves them.
ALL PRAISE AND GLORY GOES TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR
